Acolytes The Acolyte Guild is a lay ministry open to youths and adults. Acolytes serve at the altar during our weekday and weekend Eucharists as well as all other principal liturgies of the church. Training sessions for new and advancing acolytes are held regularly. It is great way for children to begin to learn and understand the parts of our liturgies.

Altar Guild Members of the Altar Guild are responsible for preparation of the sanctuary for all services. All aspects of the preparation for worship are covered by these volunteers: cleaning linens, polishing silver and brass, placing candles, care and cleaning of vestments, and preparing the elements of consecration.

Flower Guild This guild works closely with the Altar Guild and is responsible for the flower arrangements on the main and chapel altars for each Sunday of the year and major holidays, such as the Greening of the Church during Advent.

Front Door Ministries This group of volunteers includes the Ushers and Greeters that are stationed throughout the church on Sunday mornings. They distribute the worship bulletins and collect and present the offering during the service as well as providing useful directions and information about St. Peter's to visitors. Often a visitor's first impression is the most important and these volunteers do their best to ensure that our guests are made to feel welcome.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) LEMs are persons licensed by the Bishop to assist with the administration of the Eucharist, or communion. Their primary role is to serve as the lay representatives at the altar as Deacon, Sub Deacon, or Chalice Bearer. Often their duties include the reading of scripture lessons, leading the Prayers of the People, and setting up the communion table during the service. Some LEMs are also licensed to take communion to those members of the parish family that are homebound, serving as a vital link between the individual and the parish at large.

Lectors Lectors are lay persons that are charged with reading the scripture as part of the services each Sunday.

If you are interested in becoming involved with any of these groups, please contact the parish office at (704) 332-7746.

St. Peter's is located at the corner of Seventh and Tryon Streets. Free parking is available to all church members and church visitors in the TransAmerica parking deck on Seventh Street, across from the Parish Hall entrance to the church.
