1834 Legacy Society Ensures Continued Viability Of St. Peter’s Church
The 1834 Legacy Society honors those who have mentioned St. Peter’s Church in their estate. It soon will reach the milestone of $8 million in estimated value of gifts pledged during the last eight years.
The Planned Giving Committee, whose members recruit new contributors to the 1834 Legacy Society, started its work in July 2002. The next member of the 1834 Society will be its 80th since that effort began.
Those who give a portion of their estate to St. Peter’s make a conscious decision to help ensure the viability of our church well beyond their lifetime. For that, we give special thanks.
Members of the 1834 Legacy Society are recognized in several ways. Their names are engraved on bronze leaves of a framed oak tree displayed prominently in the church. They also are recognized at special times such as Legacy Sunday, which occurs annually in January, and at parish-wide celebrations.
The 1834 Legacy Society is named for the year Episcopalians first organized for worship in Charlotte. To learn more, contact Maria Long, chairperson of the Planned Giving Committee, 704/333-9290, or Ellison Clary, Planned Giving Officer, 704/344-0893.)
